Francis Ngannou vs. Philipe Lins squared off in a Heavyweight bout earlier this evening (Sat., May 16, 2026) at MVP MMA 1 inside Intuit Arena in Inglewood, California.

Ngannou opened the fight with a ripping low kick that spun Lines around. When Lins tried to kick in return, Ngannou countered with a combination and body kick. Lins tried to catch the kick and wrestle to no avail. Lins entered the pocket and got clobbered by a left hook, forcing him to wrestle desperately. Ngannou sprawled heavily and gained top position with lots of time to work.

Lins worked back to his feet, taking some big shots in the process. “The Predator” continued to pursue and landed more punches, but Lins fired back too! The fight moved into the clinch, where Ngannou landed some clubbing body punches. When the two broke apart, Lins swung for the fences … and got absolutely clobbered by a counter left hook from the former UFC champion!

No follow-up shot was needed.

Ngannou looked pretty sharp in his return to MMA! He kicked well, stuffed takedowns without issue, and landed some clean punches even before the kill shot. Physically, Ngannou appeared as strong and massive as ever, very much still looking the part of an elite Heavyweight talent. Immediately after the win, Ngannou was mouthing off at cageside Jake Paul — is a return to boxing next?

Result: Ngannou defeats Lins via first-round knockout
