Dodgers’ Blake Snell Will Undergo Surgery to Remove Loose Bodies

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell will reportedly undergo surgery to remove loose bodies in his left elbow, manager Dave Roberts shared on Saturday.
He will be the second Dodgers pitcher to undergo this procedure after closer Edwin Díaz underwent the procedure on his right elbow on April 22. Snell’s recovery timeline has yet to be determined but Díaz is expected to be out until the second half of the season.
The Dodgers reportedly expect Snell’s recovery timeline to be quicker than Díaz’s. Snell will undergo the procedure next week.

The Dodgers scratched Snell from his scheduled start on Friday in the Freeway Series opener against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium. It was supposed to be Snell’s second start of the season after starting the year on the injured list.
Snell returned from the IL earlier than expected on May 9 to make his season debut against the Atlanta Braves. The southpaw only lasted three innings and gave up six hits and four earned runs.

After scratching Snell from his start on Friday, the Dodgers placed the two-time Cy Young Award winner back on the 15-day IL. He will likely be transferred to the 60-day IL in the near future.
His season debut marked Snell’s 12th regular season start and 18th overall appearance since signing a five-year, $182 million contract with Los Angeles in November 2024. Last season, Snell made 11 regular season starts, five playoff starts and one playoff relief appearance.
