The Georgia Bulldogs and Florida State Seminolesagreed to cancel their 2027 and 2028 home-and-home series. The two programs are considering a future neutral site game.
The cancellation of the Florida State series impacts Georgia‘s 2027 schedule, which is mostly known at this point. The Bulldogs still have a robust 2027 slate that features road games at Texas, Texas A&M (finally) and Auburn. Georgia also has notable home games against LSU, Tennessee and South Carolina. As usual, UGA will play their top rivals Florida and Georgia Tech.
Georgia knows the dates of two games on the 2027 schedule and even those dates are subject to change. The Bulldogs have nine SEC games and one nonconference game scheduled with Georgia Tech. Based on Georgia’s schedule, we’d be surprised if the Bulldogs scheduled another Power Four opponent in 2027.
Georgia’s current 2027 schedule has 10 Power Four foes and it could become a very familiar schedule for Georgia fans. Georgia playing nine SEC games and Georgia Tech could became the Bulldogs’ default schedule of the future. The Bulldogs are unlikely to discontinue their rivalry with Georgia Tech, but it is hard to see their being an incentive for Georgia to schedule more Power Four opponents in nonconference play outside of Georgia Tech.
Of course, Georgia will play 12 opponents in 2027, but we don’t think UGA will schedule any more challenging opponents in 2027. The Bulldogs will likely schedule cupcakes to fill out the remaining two games on their 2027 slate.
