Manu Kone has arguably become one of the best midfielders in Serie A over the last two seasons. As financial worries mount at Roma, this can lead to his exit in the summer.
The Frenchman’s press-resistance abilities have truly come to light under Gian Piero Gasperini in the ongoing. Kone has had an injury issue in recent but his impact has been clear to see.
Il Messaggero -via ForzaRoma, report how Roma are under the scanner due to Financial Fairplay concerns. This means they will have to earn capital gains of upto €80 million by the end of June or potentially be at the risk of sanctions or fines from UEFA.
This makes Kone one of the candidates to leave, with his value having risen a fair bit since he arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2024.
Three clubs interested
The report mentions that Inter are looking to make another attempt for the midfielder in the summer. A deal for them didn’t work out last year, as Roma decided to keep the French international beyond the end of the campaign.
Now, Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United are also keen.
Inter should be seen as favourites though, largely due to their previous groundwork and their qualification for the Champions League. That doesn’t stand true for Newcastle, who are outside the top half of the Premier League table.
There have been suggestions that Davide Frattesi could also be included in a deal for Kone, with the Italian having come through Roma’s academy many years ago.
