The Ducks trailed 5-0 after two periods before Beckett Sennecke and Chris Kreider got them on the board in the third. Lukáš Dostál was yanked after allowing three goals on eight shots in the first period, and coach Joel Quenneville didn’t commit to his No. 1 goalie getting the starting nod for Game 4.
Vegas won the Pacific Division title with just 95 points and eliminated the wild-card Utah Mammoth in six games to get out of the first round, while Anaheim knocked off the Edmonton Oilers in a six-game first-round series. The Ducks reached the playoffs for the first time since 2018 in their first season under Quenneville, who led the Chicago Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup championships between 2010 and 2015.
