Liverpool look set to make exactly the kind of move we’ve been eager to see. Great work by Richard Hughes.
L’Equipe claims Liverpool are looking at exactly the kind of player we’re so eager for Liverpool to sign. The Reds have battled all season without a proper defensive midfielder – something that’s hurting them badly.
Arne Slot has long been reluctant to play Wataru Endo regularly. Endo’s injury then made it completely impossible to use him.
But the Reds sorely need some sort of bite through the middle. Their midfield pairing combined for three tackles against Chelsea in a match where the visitors doubled Liverpool’s overall tackle numbers at Anfield.
So a report claiming Liverpool are looking at a €30m move for Lamine Camara is magnificent to hear. Camara is a midfielder who can do it all, but importantly, he boasts some of the best defensive numbers of any midfielder in Europe.
He can win tackles, make interceptions and help block the middle of the pitch, all while being heavily involved on the ball. That’s the magic ingredient that takes a defensive midfielder and makes him a Liverpool player.
Time will tell if the club can get this one done but Camara is unquestionably what the Reds should be chasing.

Transfer Speculation
Camara’s consistent development has made him a primary target for several Premier League clubs. Reports from 11 May indicate that Liverpool have “definite interest” and may table a bid this summer as part of a midfield rebuild. Newcastle United, long-term admirers of the Senegalese international, also remain firmly in the race. With a current market value of approximately €38.4 million and a contract running until 2029, Monaco are in a strong position to demand a significant fee.
