As Kentucky Basketball searches for one more impact player for next season, Milan Momcilovic has seemingly been the only big fish left that the Cats are in the mix for.
However, they apparently tried to get in the mix for Santa Clara forward Allen Graves, but it doesn’t sound like that went anywhere.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, Kentucky made contact with Graves’ agents, but he’s only considering Duke and LSU for the time being. And that’s if Graves even returns to school, as he’s continued to make it clear he prefers to stay in the NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-9, 225-pound Los Angeles native averaged 11.8 points (41.3% shooter from deep), 6.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.8 assists across 22.6 minutes per game for the Broncos. He infamously hit the go-ahead 3-pointer against Kentucky in the Round of 64 that seemingly won the game for Santa Clara in regulation, only for Otega Oweh to drain a triple from near midcourt as time expired, helping the Wildcats rally to victory in overtime.
It’s easy to see why Mark Pope attempted to jump into this recruitment, but it looks like it will be Momcilovic or bust for the Cats in terms of adding a star player to this roster.
