In a pitching duel that saw a combined 29 strikeouts, Greensburg held off East Central for a 1-0 EIAC victory Monday.
Greensburg’s Harper Adams pitched 7.0 innings, allowing two hits while striking out 16.
East Central’s Paige Hotze pitched 6.0 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out 13.
The Lady Pirates got an RBI single by Adams to score Mallory Bruner in the third inning for the lone run of the game.
Greensburg finished with five singles in the game. Adams (RBI), Layla Murray, Aubrie Barnes-Pettit, Tinley Klene and Bruner all had a single.
After a trip to Madison Wednesday, the Lady Pirates travel to East Central Thursday for a rematch.
South Decatur 9, Morristown 0
On the road at Morristown, the Lady Cougars of South Decatur pounded out 11 hits, including a pair of home runs, en route to a 9-0 win against the Lady Yellow Jackets.
South opened the scoring in the second inning when Dalilah Martin drove a home run over the left field fence to score Delaney Caplinger and Samantha Cole and put South on top 3-0.
In the fourth inning, Lilly Murray tripled to left field to drive in Lily Huey and Martin. A single by Raegan Benge singled to center field to score Murray and extend the lead to 6-0.
In the fifth inning, Lyndsey Shireman singled, went to second on Carly Shook’s single and eventually scored on a passed ball.
A 2-out home run over the center field fence by Murray pushed South’s lead to 8-0 through six innings.
In the seventh, Shook doubled to score Riley Benge and make the final 9-0.
South had 11 hits. Martin had a home run and three RBIs. Murray finished with a triple, home run and three RBIs. Raegan Benge added a pair of singles and one RBI. Shook finished with a single, double and one RBI. Caplinger doubled. Riley Benge, Shireman and Huey all had a single.
In the circle, Riley Benge pitched 7.0 innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out 11.
Rushville 16, Batesville 10
In an offensive battle, the visiting Lady Lions of Rushville held off Batesville 16-10 in Monday’s softball action.
The Lady Lions scored 11 runs through the final three at-bats.
Offensively for Rushville, the Lady Lions had 14 hits. Makenna Ripberger finished with a single, double and two RBIs. Althea Tellas added a pair of singles and three RBIs. Becca Tabeling and Charli Marcum both had two singles and two RBIs. Payton Moore added two singles and one RBI. Kiara Flannery and Penelope Davis both had a hit and one RBI. Ella Bowles and Macy Blevins both added a single.
In the circle for Rushville, Tellas pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits and five walks while striking out four. Tabeling pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit and three walks while striking out two.
Grace Copley pitched 5.0 innings for Batesville, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out two. Libby Stephens pitched 2.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one.
At the plate for the Lady Bulldogs, Copley doubled and had three RBIs. Payton Yorn had a single and a triple. Lexiyne Harris added a single and RBI. Caitlyn Fox and Cora Roth both had a single. Lily Lang and Molly Abel both added an RBI.
Eastern Hancock 14, North Decatur 9
North Decatur opened the week with a tough road test Monday at Eastern Hancock. The Lady Chargers tallied 13 hits and nine runs, but the Lady Royals held on for the 14-9 victory.
In the circle for North, Broolyn White pitched 2.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and five walks. Brynlee Green pitched 3.2 innings, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits and six walks.
Kendall Hostkoetter led the offense of North with a double and two singles. Ella Wilson added a double and one RBI. Madison Rohls (RBI) and Carmen Thackery both had two singles. Macie Leake added a single and three RBIs. MacKenzie Schneider added a single.
