Sponsorship support for the 2027 Gus Macker Zanesville basketball tournament has exceeded $33,000.
The fundraising milestone, achieved in just over two months, surpasses the committee’s original goal of $30,000, according to a community announcement. The event is tentatively scheduled for July 10–11, 2027, and is expected to attract hundreds of teams and thousands of visitors.
New $500 sponsorship tier introduced
In response to continued sponsor interest, the committee has introduced a new Event Sponsorship tier at $500. This sponsorship level provides businesses and organizations with an affordable opportunity to align with one of the largest community events planned for the region.
Upcoming community fundraisers
The committee will continue its fundraising efforts with two restaurant partnership events Chipotle in May and Applebee’s in June.
Specific dates and participation instructions will be announced through the official Gus Macker Zanesville social media channels.
Support continues to grow
Organizers say the fundraising campaign’s success demonstrates strong support from local businesses, nonprofits and civic leaders. Sponsorship contributions are administered by the Muskingum County Community Foundation through the Love Thy Neighbor Pass-Through Fund, ensuring transparency and accountability.
“Surpassing $33,000 this early in the process is an incredible demonstration of what our community can accomplish when we work together,” Dominique Proctor, executive director of Gus Macker Zanesville 2027, said in the announcement. “The addition of our new Event Sponsorship tier allows even more businesses and organizations to be part of this exciting initiative.”
