Roman Igwebuike is narrowing his recruitment down, and Clemsonfootball remains firmly in the mix.
The four-star linebacker out of Mount Carmel High School announced Thursday that Clemson is one of his five finalists. Indiana Hoosiers football, Missouri Tigers football, Notre Dame Fighting Irish football and Tennessee Volunteers football also made the cut.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defender has quickly become one of the most sought-after linebackers in the 2027 cycle. Clemson extended an offer to Igwebuike during the program’s Elite Retreat in March, and the Tigers have stayed heavily involved ever since.
He is expected back in Clemson for Clemson’s major official visit weekend from May 29-31, one of several trips he plans to take before making a decision.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Igwebuike sits as the No. 149 overall prospect nationally and the No. 13 linebacker in the 2027 class. His offer list includes some of the biggest programs in the country, including Ohio State Buckeyes football, Michigan Wolverines football, Georgia Bulldogs football, Miami Hurricanes football, Texas Longhorns football, USC Trojans football and Oregon Ducks football.
Igwebuike is coming off a dominant junior season that helped lead Mount Carmel to a state championship. He piled up 115 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks while also recording two interceptions, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups.

Clemson already has two linebacker commitments in its 2027 class with four-star Bryce Kish and three-star Max Brown, but the Tigers are clearly looking to continue building strength at the position with one of the nation’s top defenders still on the board.
