The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (38-11, 18-6 SEC) host the LSU Tigers (29-21, 9-15 SEC) in Georgia’s final SEC home series of the season. Georgia has the best record in the SEC and is looking to win the SEC regular season championship.
Georgia’s path to winning an SEC championship is simple. If the Bulldogs finish the season 4-2, then Georgia will end the season with the SEC’s best record. Georgia has a three-game series against LSU at home and a three-game series at the No. 6 Auburn Tigers.
Georgia’s best opportunity to rack up wins will be at home against LSU, who is swept South Carolina in their last series and earned a midweek win over Tulane. The Tigers are hot right now and are entering the Georgia series on a five-game winning streak. However, before the South Carolina series, LSU was swept in their previous three SEC series.
Georgia is coming off a home sweep against SEC bottom-dweller Missouri and did not play a midweek game. The Bulldogs did lose star outfielder Henry Allen for the season in the Missouri series.
We predict that Georgia will win the series against LSU two games to one, setting up a critical final series against Auburn. We think Georgia will fall in Sunday’s game against LSU to not get the sweep.
