The second major of 2026 begins tomorrow. This year’s PGA Championship will take place at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
This isn’t the first time the PGA Championship has been held at this historic course. But it has been quite a while. The only other PGA Championship at Aronimink took place in 1962, with Gary Player walking away with the win.
Nowadays, the spotlight belongs to Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. The pair have won four of the last five major tournaments between them. This weekend might be no different. Then again, it may be very different.
Golf is a notoriously fickle sport, as is the nature of such a game in which one stroke can make all the difference. It makes predicting events like the PGA Championship a near impossible task. Yet there are the brave few out there who try predicting it nonetheless.
Who knows what will happen when the event tees off May 14? Perhaps we should ask the experts. Here are predictions for the 2026 PGA Championship from multiple publications:
2026 PGA Championship predictions
Keith Stewart, Golf Digest: Cameron Young to win
Stewart writes, “In his last seven starts, Cameron Young has two wins (Players, Cadillac) and four additional top 10s. Young’s flat stick consistency is the engine behind his current success. Pair that with his ball-striking, and you have a championship-caliber player.”
Neil Parker, Covers: Cameron Young, Russell Henley are values
In regards to Young, Parker writes, “The complete package has been on full display, and it’s clear stylistically and statistically with Young checking all the boxes and cashing in wins, so I expect him to contend again this week.”
With Henley, Parker claims, “Few can match Henley’s elite tee-to-green precision and touch on and around the greens, so this number stands out for a proven winner who’s also popped in recent major championships.”
Michael Leboff, New York Post: Collin Morikawa is a sleeper
Leboff writes, “There were a lot of concerns about Morikawa’s back ahead of Augusta, but he put those to bed with a T7 finish. The 2020 PGA Champion rolled that form into the next week, finishing T4 at the RBC Heritage. He came undone in his next start at the Blue Monster, but he’s still coming into the second major of the season with a win and five top-10 finishes in his last six outings.”
Matt Barrie, ESPN: Cameron Young over Scheffler, McIlroy
Barrie writes, “There’s only one player in the world that’s gone head-to-head with Scheffler and McIlroy this season and it’s Young. His dad is a club professional, which is the foundation of this tournament. His winning window is open. And he hoists the Wanamaker this week.”
Ryan Young, Yahoo Sports: Don’t doubt McIlroy
Young writes, “After what happened at Augusta National, why should we doubt him anymore? Rory McIlroy took a break after his historic Masters win, and he looked solid at times last week while shaking the rust off at the Truist Championship. And … McIlroy dominated in his last competitive round at Aronimink. He finished in fifth at the BMW Championship back in 2018 and shot the course record with a 62 on Thursday. As simple as this pick might be on paper, it’s the right one to make.”
