FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — For Julian Hill, it’s truly a full-circle moment as the tight end finally gets the opportunity to play with one NFL star that he grew up idolizing.
Linebacker Harold Landry and Hill have a connection that takes them all the way back to their hometown.
“We went to the same high school, from the same area. I was in eighth grade, he was a senior at the time,” Hill told reporters on Thursday. “They had a freaking phenomenal year. Obviously, Harold was a big-time recruit coming out of high school. So I get a chance to play with him.”
So, when he officially signed a three-year deal with the New England Patriots, Hill revealed that his head coach from high school called both him and Landry, expressing how excited he is about them being on the same team.
“First time getting a chance to really meet him. Great guy, great competitor,” he said. “I’ve gone against him a couple times. He’s a tough (guy) to block. But I’m excited to work with him, go against him. Just get better and represent where we’re from.”
“He was a guy that you always try to scheme up because he can be a game changer, a game wrecker,” Hill added. “Just to see him do what he did, that’s who he is. He’s not in this position; he’s not in this year that he’s in right now with the money he has for nothing. So, he’s a guy who represents it the right way.”
