In Weeks 7 through 9, Philadelphia will tackle three consecutive NFC East matchups vs. the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Commanders, and the New York Giants, respectively. That may look like a fascinating divisional sequence to fans. To someone who actually lived it, it looks more like scheduled violence.

Those were Douglas’ words, and they say plenty. Divisional games are different, especially in the NFC East. Familiarity breeds hostility. Opponents know your tendencies, your weaknesses, and the players they want to target.
These are rarely clean football games. They are emotional, physical, and exhausting affairs where recovery matters almost as much as execution. Douglas remembers exactly what that felt like. Interdivisional games will go a long way in shaping the NFC East race.
Douglas is right to highlight this stretch. Philadelphia’s easiest path to another NFC East title is still to win its division. That is how tiebreakers are earned. That is how separation gets created. Make no mistake, though. Three straight division games are certainly a tough ask.
Dallas will bring its usual intensity. Washington should begin its ascension again. The Giants, regardless of record, never exactly treat Eagles week like an ordinary Sunday.
This stretch could either hand Philadelphia control of the division or leave them limping into November. As Hugh Douglas understands better than most, NFC East football does not simply test talent. It tests how much punishment a team can absorb and still keep swinging.
