The Kansas City Chiefs decided to move on from star running back Isiah Pacheco during the 2026 offseason — and elected to pivot to a new strategy for their ground game by signing Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III in free agency.
While Pacheco’s use and production dropped precipitously last season, the veteran rusher may see his fortunes change in 2026 after he signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions.
Set to take snaps behind Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit’s offensive backfield, Pacheco was spotted working out alongside his new teammates for the first time in this video, which was posted to Twitter by the Lions’ official account:

It remains to be seen if Detroit’s coaching staff will give Pacheco a significant share of snaps in the Lions’ new-look ground game, but with his Super Bowl pedigree and proven efficiency, the former Rutgers Scarlet Knight should have no problem meshing with Dan Campbell’s hard-nosed offensive style.
