It was Mariah Carey who confirmed the devastating news of her mom and sister’s demise to People. The latest wave of accusations stems from a viral screenshot of her Instagram post in which global pop icon, Justin Bieber reportedly accused her of killing the duo.
Mariah Carey shared a complicated relationship with her mom, Patricia Carey
Mariah Carey, in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, recalled her childhood memories with her mom, Patricia. The singer and songwriter mentioned that her bond with her mom caused much pain and confusion. In fact, her therapist also suggested her to maintain distance from the people who caused her pain. Thus, she began calling her mom Pat. She added that their relationship had both good and bad sides. In her memoir, Mariah wrote:
“The bond has caused me so much pain and confusion. For my sanity and peace of mind, my therapist encouraged me to literally rename and reframe my family. My mother became Pat to me. There was a presence of betrayal and beauty. Of love and abandonment. Of sacrifice and survival. There is a cloud of sadness that I suspect will always hang over me, not simply because of my mother but because of our complicated journey together.”
