Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers’ 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
Just prior to the 1990-91 season, the Lakers signed Tony Brown, a 6-foot-6 forward, as a free agent. He had been a fourth-round draft pick in 1982 by the New Jersey Nets, and he had played six seasons in the league for five different teams by the time he came to the Lakers.
He appeared in seven games with the Lakers and totaled five points, four rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes before getting waived. He spent the rest of that season with the Utah Jazz and then played for the Los Angeles Clippers and the Seattle SuperSonics during the 1991-92 campaign, which was his last in the league.
Brown ended up with NBA career stats of six points and 2.1 rebounds in 16.7 minutes a game. After leaving the league, he played five more years for Reggio Emilia, a pro basketball team in Italy.
