Supporters of Brighton & Hove Albion’s women’s team have said the night before their side’s FA Cup semi-final match against Liverpool “felt like Christmas Eve”.
A bus arrived at the Amex Stadium at 05:00 BST on Sunday to take fans to the stadium of rugby league side St Helens, in Merseyside, which is hosting the fixture.
Albion fan Charlie Little, who was on the bus, said: “Going to St Helens is all good, but we really want to go to Wembley. We don’t want to lose.”
Fellow supporter Sam Sleeman-Boss said: “I think we’ll win, we’re on a streak.”
Sleeman-Boss added: “It felt like Christmas Eve yesterday. We had to go to bed early for the coach.”
The winner of the match will play either Chelsea or Manchester City in the final at Wembley.
Little said the supporters were “absolutely terrified” about what the result of the match might be.
“If we get to Wembley, I don’t care what happens in that game; we’re at Wembley,” Little said.
“But if we lost this one, it would be depressing. I’d be distraught.”
Brighton won 2-0 against Arsenal in the quarter final of the competition, while Liverpool were 1-0 winners away at Charlton.
Caroline Sturtridge, who was also on the bus, said: “I’m pretty confident, I think we’re going do it. We’re going to get to Wembley.
“It’s fantastic and to see so many people coming is fantastic. Our end’s going to be rocking and I can’t wait.”
Albion have gone six games unbeaten in all competitions and sit in sixth place in the Women’s Super League (WSL) table.
In the WSL, Dario Vidosic’s side has picked up draws against Manchester United and Arsenal and a 3-2 win against Manchester City in recent weeks.
