Outlook
With Kemon Spell off to Georgia, Penn State needed to look elsewhere to fill their needs at running back. The Lions had their sights set on three main targets, Gibson being one of them. Now that he’s a part of the 2027 class, Penn State has the choice to decide if it’ll be a one-running back class or two.
In 2025, Gibson rushed 205 times for 1,611 yards (averaging 7.9 yards per carry) and 21 touchdowns, while also catching 24 passes for 387 yards (averaging 16.1 yards per reception) and four touchdowns. He has recorded a 40-yard dash time of 4.64 seconds at 6’1″, 203 pounds.
The general consensus is that Gibson is a complete, well-rounded running back prospect with good size, receiving ability, and production, though there’s room to refine his footwork and overall technique as he prepares for the college level. Although the running back group is not as jam packed as it was a year ago, this should still give Gibson time to acclimate to the college level and get ready for the extra requirements the bump in competition will bring.
