New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has been caught in the middle of a scandal involving a former NFL insider for The Athletic, Dianna Russini.
Pictures of Vrabel and Russini released recently suggest the two have been having an affair for years. Vrabel has addressed the team and media and has noted that he is committed to being the best version of himself for his family and the Patriots.
While Vrabel’s actions are not a good look, he did not violate any team or league rules. However, the entire situation has become somewhat of a distraction, and Vrabel had to miss Day 3 of the NFL Draft to attend counseling. Vrabel said he was unsure if he would miss more football activities, but the scandal would be a much bigger deal to the Patriots if he did.
As more details come to light, Drake Maye assured fans that he did not anticipate it being a distraction to the team.
“No, I don’t,” Maye said on Wednesday when asked if the scandal would be a distraction throughout the year, according to the Associated Press’ Steve Reed. “I mean, he’s our head coach. I think he’s done a great job of talking to us and talking us through it. I’m just looking forward to getting back to work and getting ready.”
Maye also called Vrabel “a great human being” and voiced his support for him while he gets things taken care of.
