The Minnesota Timberwolves return home Friday night looking to bounce back after a historic loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 to even up the Western Conference semifinal series.
San Antonio stomped out Minnesota for the best postseason win since 1983. The 133-95 victory on Thursday was backed by an outstanding offensive effort led by Stephon Castle, who scored 21 points. Minnesota struggled to find rhythm offensively even with Anthony Edwards back from injury.
The Timberwolves finished 31-21 against Western Conference opponents during the regular season and have leaned heavily on Edwards throughout the playoffs. He is averaging 28.8 points and 3.7 assists this season, while Jaden McDaniels has provided an added scoring punch lately, averaging 15.1 points over Minnesota’s last 10 games.
San Antonio entered with momentum and averaged 119.8 points per game during the regular season. One key component to the Spurs success has been points in the paint from Victor Wembanyama.
De’Aaron Fox has added steady production for the Spurs, averaging 18.6 points per game, while Julian Champagnie has emerged as a perimeter threat with 2.2 made 3-pointers per game over the last 10 contests. However, the Spurs haven’t won a game in Minnesota since October 24, 2022 with seven straight losses.

Whatever Gregg Popovich told Wemby and the Spurs before Game 2 clearly worked 😤🔥
Lou Williams is not surprised Coach Pop popped in San Antonio’s film session 🎞️
Unlike guests in film sessions Lou was a part of, everyone definitely listened to what Pop had to say 😂💯 pic.twitter.com/aMFoi3otlg
