The expectations rookies place on themselves can vary, and when it comes to Houston Texans‘ defensive tackle Kayden McDonald, he’s certainly got some things he wants to accomplish.
Some rookies just want to make the final 53-man roster. Others want to start their first game, and some just want to be able to be productive in Year 1.
But when it comes to what McDonald envisions in his first season, well, it is quite the list.
When asked about his 2026 goals on KPRC 2, McDonald gave perhaps an eyebrow-raising answer.
“Win a Super Bowl, Rookie of the Year, All-Pro first year,” McDonald said via KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson. “These are realistic for me. I wrote those down and I’m blessed to be here and I’ve got a chance.”

Texans a Super Bowl chance?
Well, they have the defense to be one, but it is the offense and C.J. Stroud where most of the angst comes from.
Can Stroud rediscover his rookie year form and be a top quarterback in football? If he can, or get close to it, then I get the sense Houston will be in the thick of the Super Bowl conversation.
But if the Stroud that has struggled for the past two seasons shows up, the Texans could be in trouble, because the defense can only do so much.
McDonald’s goals are big; there’s no denying that, and who knows, maybe he’ll accomplish them all, but Stroud looms as the key to whether they are obtained or not.
