Yaroslav Amosov’s grappling was the difference maker in his second UFC appearance against Joel Alvarez.
Amosov (30-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) made things look easy once he got a hold of Alvarez (23-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC), and found a way to finish the fight at 1:13 of Round 2. The fight took place on the prelims of UFC 328 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Amosov was patient to start the fight, but when he saw his opening for a takedown, he took full advantage, controlling on the mat for a majority of the opening frame. Alvarez came out hunting for strikes in Round 2, but once again Amosov took control with a big takedown, and this time it was immediately into an arm triangle choke. The squeeze was too much, and Alvarez opted to tap out. Amosov popped up and unleashed a break dancing celebration.
