The North Carolina Tar Heels had to rebuild their roster as first-year head coach Michael Malone took over after a tough season. As Malone and his staff continue to build the roster, they are doing so with the transfer portal.
One player that the Tar Heels landed is former NC State guard Matt Able. He had an impressive freshman season for the Wolfpack and was one of the top players in the portal. As Able committed to UNC, he did so while still testing the NBA Draft waters.
So far, Able has performed well enough at the NBA Scouting Combine that there are now questions on what the future holds. On Wednesday, he caught up with Jeff Borzello to discuss his pending decision.
“It’s definitely a tough decision,” Able said on Wednesday. “I love UNC, I’m excited to get over there at some point … I’m still back and forth on it. I gotta think about it some more, get with my camp and figure it out.”
Able has really impressed so far in Chicago, and his stock continues to be on the rise. He entered the combine as a second-round pick and while his stock is still that, he’s moving up a bit in terms of the rankings.
It’s going to be a tough decision for the guard and one that will certainly impact UNC’s roster one way or the other.
