While he is such a gifted player, Wemby also knows that he can improve his game all the time. That is why he worked with the iconic Hakeem Olajuwon, and he channeled his learnings in the San Antonio Spurs‘ Game 3 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Victor Wembanyama is thankful he learned under Hakeem Olajuwon
In one of the most historic performances in recent memory, Wembanyama was dominant in Game 3 against the Timberwolves. It was quite an impressive game, and it did not go unnoticed.
Wemby became only the fifth player in history to put up a stat line of 39 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks. He joins multiple legends, which includes his mentor, Hakeem Olajuwon.

In the fourth quarter, Wemby was feeling confident, so he was doing the moves he learned from Olajuwon. It was both flashy and effective, which puts the Spurs two games away from reaching the Western Conference Finals.
“I had to resort to things that Hakeem taught me in this fourth quarter. Many things, but especially that spin fadeaway against Rudy,” Wembanyama said in his post-game press conference after Game 2.
With every game, Wembanyama is improving, which is good for the Spurs. They have a bright future moving forward, and Wembanyama will be ready to keep learning and applying it into this game.
