The Cleveland Guardians will close out their series with the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, but they’ll do it without Stephen Vogt in the dugout.
Vogt won’t be managing the Guardians on Sunday.
It’s at least a bit of bad mojo, given that Vogt is regarded as one of the best managers in the game. He seems to get the most out of the roster of one of the league’s smaller-market clubs.
At least for a day, though, Vogt is missing.
Where is Stephen Vogt?
Vogt is “under the weather,” according to MLB.com’s Tim Stebbins.
Clearly, Vogt wouldn’t want to take himself out of action unless he was feeling particularly poorly. Cleveland will likely just hope he can improve his health quickly.
The Guardians remain at home on Monday night to take on the Los Angeles Angels.
Who is the Guardians’ manager today?
Stepping into Vogt’s role is bench coach Tony Arnerich.
Arnerich happens to look a lot like Vogt.
He was both a hitting coach and a bullpen coach for the Mariners before being named Vogt’s bench coach this season.
