46’ — Second half has kicked off! Bayern sub on Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer.
Halftime Observations
- The team is mentally checked out in addition to being tired. Sloppy passes, easy turnovers, scrambling in defence, there’s so many things wrong with the team.
- The midfield in particular has been diabolical.
- Bayern as it stands don’t deserve anything from this match.
- Jonas Urbig easily the best player so far making numerous saves to deny Wolfsburg.
45+4’ — Kim stops a potentially dangerous attack. Ref blows for half time soon after.
45’ — Three minutes added on.
43’ — Wolfsburg nearly score but the shot is wide.
38’ — Urbig saves a long shot. Urbig also saves the ensuing corner.
36’ — Harry Kane shoots…and it’s wide. Just great.
32-34’ — Bayern thought they got a penalty, but it was initially ruled offside on Michael Olise. A VAR check confirms that it IS a penalty.
28’ — Bayern scramble again to keep the ball away from their goal. Bayern race down the other end and Jackson takes too long to get a shot off and it’s saved.
24’ — A scramble in the Bayern box results in the ball cleared for now.
22’ — Urbig survives a concussion scare after a collision with a Wolfsburg player.
21’ — Nicolas Jackson fires his shot well wide.
19’ — Tom Bischof and Harry Kane both get a shot off after a corner kick. Neither shot goes in.
15’ — Kim Min-jae slides in to stop Wolfsburg getting a shot off.
12’ — The ensuing corner for the home side is saved by Jonas Urbig’s face.
11’ — Wolfsburg go on the break again, but the final pass was lacking.
7’ — Wolfsburg nearly score but the final touch was off.
3’ — An early observation I’ve made is that we’ve got Phil Bonney back on commentary. It has genuinely been a while since I’ve heard him cover a Bayern game.
Kickoff! — The match has kicked off!
Lineups are out! It’s a weird lineup with a mix of starters and bench players.
Bayern Munich must pick up the pieces after a toothless display after one of the club’s biggest matches in recent memory. A 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain ensured that the Parisians would reach a second consecutive final, while the Champions League trophy continues to elude Bayern for six years and counting.
The Bavarians travel north to face another relegation threatened team, VfL Wolfsburg. The Wolves are undefeated in their last three games, but they face a Bayern team smarting from a major elimination and looking to set the record straight.
