The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Detroit Pistons for Game 6. After going down 0-2 in the series and winning the last three games in a row, Game 6 is an elimination game. If Cleveland holds serve and wins at home as they have for most of the season, they will move onto the Eastern Conference Finals. If Detroit can win on the road, they can force a Game 7.
This has become a very interesting series. Detroit has to rely on Cade Cunningham as no other supporting cast has been ‘consistent’ in this series. Ausar Thompson and Tobias Harris combined for 20 points in Game 5 while Jalen Duren has failed to even score 12 points or more in this series.
Cleveland is a different story. If all four of the Cavs primary starters could put up good games at the same time, this might have been a different series. A consistent throughline is Mitchell and Harden both need to be good to great or this will be a challenging game. Harden was the hero of Game 5. However, both players have had games or halves that were far below their playoff expectation.
Rebounding will also play a significant factor. Game 5 was the only time in this series that Cleveland finished a game with a rebounding edge. Detroit has dominated the glass. If Detroit can continue to out rebound Cleveland and get big defensive plays from Ausar Thompson, Detroit can make this game close.
