Longtime Boston radio host Michael Felger of 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Felger & Mazz” is of the belief that the Boston Red Sox are in the sweepstakes for future Hall of Fame outfielder Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels.
“I feel like it’s my responsibility,” Felger said. “If something interesting comes around my phone, I’m going to share it.”
Felger repeatedly downplayed the validity of his “source” before reading off a text message he received from said source.
“Don’t be surprised if we end up with Mike Trout,” Felger’s source told him. “He’s 100 years old, but they believe he is a better leader than (Alex) Bregman and will hit a ton of home runs at Fenway Park.”
He then protected himself, saying, “If it happens, you can thank me; if it doesn’t, don’t blame me.”
Trout has been a one-team man since entering the league as the 25th overall pick in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. However, his loyalty has gotten him an utterly shocking zero career playoff wins, with just one appearance.
If the sweepstakes does, in fact, kick off for the future Hall of Famer, Boston would likely have to outbid 2/3 of the league to land Trout.
The ridiculousness of the possibility of landing Trout was not lost on Red Sox personality Jared Carrabis, who made his opinion on the topic known.
